Automatic lawn mowers have been out for a while now, although I’ve never heard of anyone who owned one. No idea how well they work in the real world, so if you know of someone who has used one, let me know how it was.
This robotic mower, is dubbed “RoboMower” and apparently takes care of pretty much everything for you. More info here.

We actually own a Robomower that cuts our backyard. It does an excellent job. It took us a couple of days to get our yard robo-proof so it did not get stuck but on rare occassions but now it just goes out cuts and comes back to charge itself almost every time. And if it doesn’t make it back it’s like going outside to play a video game to drive the thing back to the charging station.
