Sony appears to be researching and developing a way to make electronic items with selectively flexible joints so that you can fold up the cell phone or PDA when not in use in order to take less space. When you want to use the item, a current passed through the gel inside causes it to harden and become solid enough to use.

You know, I think they used this on Batman Begins, remember? His cape becomes solid when the electric signal is sent through it.
I’m not too sure about this technology, although possibly useful. This would just make it far too easy for a “friend” to drop them down the sink. They’d just ooze right down. It would be the first time that you’re cellphone showed up in the kitchen plumbing bill.
